If someone would have given me a crystal ball and showed me just how busy I was going to be I still don't think that I would have believed them. I had my second child, I moved...twice, and I got a new job in another state. I've been so busy that I completely forgot that I had two scheduled blogs to write.<i> </i>Lets's not forget that 99% of my belongings are still in boxes. As we speak it has officially taken me 7days to simply write this paragraph! Honestly, I need to be sleeping because I have a MONSTER of a cold, but the kids and hubb is asleep so I finally have some time for myself. Ah, the life of a working mother. Needless to say I am happy to have finally mustered up a little bit of time to talk about one of the events that I got to attend this past summer. <br />
<br />
I really get excited when I talk about weddings, but this one even more so because my cousin was the one getting married! Tara and Scott began dating in 2008 and have literally been two peas in a pod inseparable from each other ever since. When I asked Tara how she envisioned her day she stated that she never really envisioned it before. However, her event looked planned out as if she did. The wedding was elegant and beautiful, and the reception was one of the best parties I have ever attended. Donned out with adult drink party favors and graced with the calming colors of blue and white, Tara didn't have to envision anything over the top. Their wedding was classy and straight to the point and even their wedding rings couldn't shine brighter than the smiles on their faces. <br />

The theme of their wedding was "Double Hearts: Two Hearts Coming Together as One". Quite frankly, I am glad that they did. Tara, thanks for choosing my cousin Scott and Welcome to our family. Congratulations! (Better late than never right!) A father who truly loves his daughter, will find no other man acceptable for her unless he realizes that, that man will die trying to protect her and make her happy just as he has for his entire life.</div>
<br />
Dad's have different approaches as to how they will respond whenever their daughter brings a guy home. I can laugh about this now, but when my Dad met my future husband Creg, he jokingly threatened him at the dinner table. My mother chuckled under her breath, and reprimanded him in the best way she knew how in order to protect me from utter mortification (It was too late for that), and I looked at my father with steam coming from my ears. He ignored us both and polite smile crept on to his face while they remained eye contact. I think they communicated through telepathy or something that day. I'm sure my father said to him, "This is my daughter, you better not mess this up and you BETTER not break her heart." However, Creg wasn't intimidated and he probably thought back "You have nothing to worry about, and it's going to take a lot more than that to scare me away." From that moment on a level of respect has developed between the two of them. My Father has grown to love and truly care for his "son" and vice versa. <br />
<br />
I have never seen my Dad wear his emotions on his sleeve or have a more serious persona than that of my wedding day. I remember when he came into my dressing room to give me one last kiss and he looked so sad. I said "Dad, it's okay. I'm STILL your baby girl." He silently shook his head, hardly made eye contact, gave me a kiss and went back downstairs to mentally prepare himself. I think he took the idea of giving me away a little to literal that day. However, the time came when I was ready to become a Mrs. and there wasn't anything he could do about it. My processional began to play and we took the walk. I was smiling, waving, and crying like I had just won the Miss America pageant, but not my Dad. No polite smile crept on his face this time. He sternly looked straight ahead and focused on my husband in the same way he did at the dinner table when they first met. Only this time, the only one smiling between the two was Creg. We approached the altar and he prepared to "give me away" until his joking side emerged again. As my hand was about to leave my father's and hold my husband's my father literally and lovingly smacked his hand away not once, but 3 times. My guests laughed and I gave him the "stop it" look. He then grabbed his hand, pulled him in for a hug and said something to him that I may never know. <br />
<br />
My father was a trooper that day. He gave a Father of the Bride speech that should go down in record books. I don't remember it word for word and in retrospect I wish I had a videographer for that day just so I could here it again. Yet, his speech was so meaningful that we were both crying and I was audibly sobbing. I had never heard him say such admirable things about me before. I'm sure that he has done so when he bragged about me with his Fatherly pride or had private discussions with my mother, but this was the first time that I had heard them. When his speech was over he wiped his tears away and he smiled, he shook Creg's hand, gave me a kiss and went back to his seat. I knew that I had made him proud. <br />

Dad--<br />
I just want to say Thank You for being there. Thank you for the pep talks that I still get from you. Thank you for making me come inside in the middle of my summer breaks from school just to do Algebra. Thank you for telling me that "I Gotta Be" and "I can't fly with the eagles if I hang with the buzzards." Thank you for teaching me how to respect myself and be a lady in the best way you know how. Thank you for teaching me how to defend myself from the cruelties of the world by giving me a tough outer shell-- that is only to be cracked when necessary. Thank You for being you and making me into the person that I am. Because without you, I wouldn't be. <br />
<br />
Love Your Baby Girl,<br />

I recently discovered that on "each one of the 2.5 million weddings this year in the United States will produce an average of 63 tons of carbon dioxide and 400-600 lbs of garbage.<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">" For what's supposed to be the most beautiful day of your life, that sure is a lot of ugly damage being done to our earth wouldn't you agree? </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">Well, about a week ago while scouring my twitter timeline I came across a dress designer by the name of Chrissy Wai-Ching. I decided to click on the link to her website <a href="http://www.wai-ching.com/" target="_blank">www.wai-ching.com</a> and my mouth fell to the floor when I saw her gowns. I mean, these designs are fascinating and I have never seen any thing like them before. They are not your typical bleached white wedding gown! They are sexy, elegant, and they pop with color...LITERALLY. With further research on her site I discovered that her dresses are eco-friendly as well, and you can't get any better than that. This inclined me to call Chrissy personally just so I could learn more. She was more than happy to talk to me and explained how her dresses created a tiny carbon footprint. Her gowns are created from organic silk or hemp and are hand-dyed using all natural dyes. The Zolotova dress (the gowns that are featured below) are a collaged style created from salvaged pieces of other dresses that would have otherwise been disposed. And, while most gowns are are shipped across the globe these are created right at her design studio in Seattle. Here's the kick, she doesn't only feature wedding gowns, but she also sells evening gowns and dresses (think about bridesmaids or a wardrobe switch during the reception), kimonos (staying true to her Chinese heritage), shawls, ring bearer pillows, and ties for the groom. </span></span><br />

Food Trucks. Yeah, I said it. I know your thinking "What?! Thats ridiculous!" Which is part of the reason why I save this trend towards the end of the list. I really needed to figure out how to make this alluring to my reader in the best way possible. It's not my job to question the trend...I'm just reporting it so that you can stay well informed. Needless to say, food trucks are definitely buzzing around at weddings this year. Now I'm not talking about a food truck that you see on your average neighborhood corner every day selling hot dogs and 3 hour old pretzels. I'm talking about but gourmet ones. A lot of couples will be using them for outdoor weddings simply because it's quite convenient for their guests. How nice is it to just go up to a truck and order whatever you want whenever you want right? I like this idea because it brings a more relaxed vibe to what can be an uptight event (think garden party). And if you think I'm losing my marbles on this one, I just thought I'd let you know that Celebrity Chefs/Caterers Jose Garces, Stephen Starr, and David Chang are all getting into the food truck industry.<br />

20. Family Heirloom Furniture: As I said earlier, I love vintage things but I think this takes it to a whole new level. If your having a small family wedding indoors or outdoors, perhaps you grandmothers wooden chest freshly polished can hold the place cards and guestbook, or an old hutch can hold your specialty drinks. Even if you don't have any heirlooms and this idea appeals to you, there is always thrift stores. Take a look: <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
21. Rustic-isms: If your an outdoorsy person, this should appeal to you. Think mason jars filled with floral arrangements, wicker chairs, and wind chimes made of bottles hanging down from trees.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt65SQatxhAlyN0b-S4F0kfYPC7Q6sIP0iUwSHoClXOXygG05fkx62Jd3whGJqD3wrZNQHIZ7V6Xap3qKiBgY2bRee8uCSdIjFAw66bxNgp32PRdGf1QKr65v2-jRNe2QjjobbNn-XOWuH/s1600/mj1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt65SQatxhAlyN0b-S4F0kfYPC7Q6sIP0iUwSHoClXOXygG05fkx62Jd3whGJqD3wrZNQHIZ7V6Xap3qKiBgY2bRee8uCSdIjFAw66bxNgp32PRdGf1QKr65v2-jRNe2QjjobbNn-XOWuH/s320/mj1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
22. Old World Opulence: This is another idea stolen from the Royal Wedding. Colors like gold and ivory would be your theme, heavy card stock invitations with over the top hand written calligraphy and large hanging chandeliers. <br />
<br />
23. Custom Made Dance Floors: This one is for the bride who wants it all, and can afford it all for that matter. While the cheaper alternative suggests getting your monogram illuminated on your floor. This idea can have your initials in your floor permanently. If that's your style.<br />
<br />
24. A Different Type of Destination: Again, this is for the bride who has a lot of money to play with. Weddings are being taken to a new level and being held on top of Elephants in India, or at the Colosseum in Rome. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes did it!<br />
<br />
25. Last but not least....Making your wedding a personal brand. It let's your guests know who you really are a couple. Whether it's a royal theme, vintage-rustic, or full of vibrant colors. Showing off what makes your event personal for you, and letting the charisma shine through is the best trend of all and one that I don't see going anywhere anytime soon. Let everyone know what make you...YOU.<br />
<br />
There it is; the Top 25 Bridal Trends....Happy Planning!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6309903028022499405.post-21841930919797473242012-01-02T20:02:00.001-05:002012-01-02T22:29:37.068-05:00Top 25 Bridal Trends of 2012 pt. 313. Look for bright and flamboyant color combinations to turn heads and brighten the day. Think about eye popping oranges and yellows, electric fuchsias and reds, peacock palettes, bright royal blues and even brighter golds.<br />
<br />
14. Chalkboards: I know your probably thinking "ummm, seriously?!" Yes, I'm serious and I for one am all for things that are different. As I said earlier, letting your guests know your personality really makes your wedding a memorable day. Especially when it comes out in the original, cute and quirky fashion. Details like seating, drinks that are in your bar, or the menu for the night can be written in beautiful calligraphy with a permanent pen. That way you don't have to worry about little hands touching it or it accidentally being rubbed off.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2HiZy8o_wiZSZinfKLQXEvxvojRPGlTR0wbDCcMBGFXEyy_jVRv4DRyWnktCDs_69tgtcZ2mZAENsJHzKsR62-f22US5WmzEf4nryvtPIUIn7R9FuvyvzCkSiSMb_7pGHGwgs_3S91JgR/s1600/chalkboard_5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2HiZy8o_wiZSZinfKLQXEvxvojRPGlTR0wbDCcMBGFXEyy_jVRv4DRyWnktCDs_69tgtcZ2mZAENsJHzKsR62-f22US5WmzEf4nryvtPIUIn7R9FuvyvzCkSiSMb_7pGHGwgs_3S91JgR/s400/chalkboard_5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
15. Diamonds, sparkle, and all things BLING! Need I say more? Shiny stones can be added to cakes, bouquets, table decor. I think it adds that special wow factor too...as long as you don't over do it.<br />
<br />
16. Centerpieces...that hang from above. Flowers, lighting and yes... bling can be hung from centerpieces to add fancy flair to your event.<br />
<br />
17. Vintage, Vintage, Vintage: I love nostalgic things. Victorian dresses (see #1), brooches, birdcage veils, pearls. Think of fashion was from the Roaring 20's. Or, if that's not your quite your style maybe you have an older relative who can't make it your wedding. Perhaps you can honor them by incorporating their picture in your bouquet. You can't get anymore vintage than that.<br />

<br />
18. Couple Trivia: Add an extra quirk of fun to your wedding by teaching your guests somethings about you as a couple that they never knew. How did you meet? What's your favorite song? Where did you get engaged? Facts like these on beverage napkins are great for conversation during cocktail hour and keeps your guests interacting with each other.<br />

Lighting: This isn't really a new trend, just one that doesn't seem to be going any where any time soon. It can really set the tone of your event, especially if you want a romantic ambiance. You can try pinspot lighting on centerpieces, or color wash an entire wall where the band/dj is to spark up more of a party like atmosphere. Yet, nothing whispers classy like your new monogram glowing on the dance floor.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOIJrmpafUUQ6ouWdTvP-Q3rKHQTj70uOmx4_6RhtOuaXqntX0j3O_feyhyFoqUIrpPT7XTwjUrYIpN2Jqt23SylIO2TH7gL42dQ-2ArhvtKmGI6m_Zmpv4aFS4X91HYWK64EnF43borXY/s1600/edgesightandsound.com+monogram+on+dance+floor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOIJrmpafUUQ6ouWdTvP-Q3rKHQTj70uOmx4_6RhtOuaXqntX0j3O_feyhyFoqUIrpPT7XTwjUrYIpN2Jqt23SylIO2TH7gL42dQ-2ArhvtKmGI6m_Zmpv4aFS4X91HYWK64EnF43borXY/s1600/edgesightandsound.com+monogram+on+dance+floor.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. Another trend borrowed from the royal wedding is the use of trees. This is a really great way to transform your reception/ceremony and give it an enchanting appeal. Perhaps, you can use them to align the sides of your aisle like the Duchess of Cambridge? Yet, the thought of replacing large centerpieces with trees throughout your venue and illuminating them with lights doesn't sound like a bad idea either.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9. Evening Ceremonies: This is another opportunity to to take advantage of the use of lighting. Evening events are a great way to battle summer heat and spark up the romance. Think of floating tea lights at every guest table, flameless candles lighting up your path as you walk down the aisle (we don't want any fires in case one may happen to get knocked over) and pretty crystals hanging from those pretty trees we discussed in #8.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
10. "Hey, Let's Get Away?"-- For the couples that can afford it Destination Weddings are mighty becoming. Last year 25% of couples decided to marry on a private island, cruise ship, or a yacht. Oh yeah, in case you were wondering I have a partnership with Sandals and Beaches resorts so if you need some good rates...email me ;-) <a href="mailto:laurenwilliams@enchantedappleweddings.com">laurenwilliams@enchantedappleweddings.com</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
11. Don't Forget About Your Groom: These days it's not ALL about the bride anymore. Don't get me wrong it's MAINLY about the bride! However, some grooms don't want to be left out and they are finding new and unique ways to make sure their guests know it. So if your hubby-to-be decides to incorporate something in the wedding day that truly defines him...let him (as long as it's not TOO crazy). Besides, everyone loves a wedding with little bit of personality. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlJWbttG6nBH5Wn0n7pRaVFl-OaP3CxZPc9-axVZBqjey6PIdEHfPhCILnurGWIiqnx0C-jeahBPy2kgHQoPi8KNRVahDKs5_nq6ZfK7oTtUXltC2O8FguJHKjj64jFIIF15dU16y4uMgg/s1600/bm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlJWbttG6nBH5Wn0n7pRaVFl-OaP3CxZPc9-axVZBqjey6PIdEHfPhCILnurGWIiqnx0C-jeahBPy2kgHQoPi8KNRVahDKs5_nq6ZfK7oTtUXltC2O8FguJHKjj64jFIIF15dU16y4uMgg/s400/bm.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
12. Want even more personality? Try unique escort and place cards. If your having an island themed wedding you can have names and table numbers delicately painted on a sea shell. If your wedding is local, try taking pictures of the places in the city that you and your fiancé frequent often. This could be a library, local park or art museum. </div>Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6309903028022499405.post-38743653031140442212011-12-30T12:46:00.000-05:002012-01-06T15:13:27.140-05:00Top 25 Bridal Trends of 2012Well the New Year is upon us and with that comes new design trends! Newly engaged couples can be excited and equally overwhelmed with just how much glitz and glamour <i>or</i> elegant simplicity that can go into a wedding. Nothing gets me more excited than THIS because there is so much room for creativity and individuality. Bridal designs are my forte. In addition to creating my own, I love to read about them and learn of new things to come. So, in case some of you out there were hoping for a summary, I managed to use my resources to put together this a 4 part series for you. Happy New Years!<br />
<br />
-P.S. To my Cinderella's out there, lets hope some of your Prince Charming's get down on that bended knee tomorrow and keep you out a little past midnight eh? *wink wink.<br />
<br />
<br />
1. Victorian styled gowns: and we can delightfully blame The Duchess of Cambridge for this one. She bought the romantic look of lace and bolero jackets back in style this year. If your aiming for a traditional wedding with a romantic theme, this is the way to go. Shop for gowns that are full or form fitting with plenty of lace, chiffon, and organza fabrics with accents of crystal beading and embroidery. You want to spice it up a little bit? Dye the crinoline of your dress to match your colors.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqMSqSkW9FCDLF45K8olyEtUpP7YIIXZFL75X3j3YW6LgyaKF_ycj8JgznYoRZ7NEfPztrdlXlDGGo2DsS3VBwyYG9yYI3e2o5HouizUIetKIBVMZPSPQWT2EFIdsI_oLFHOc2D8_317Dn/s1600/images.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqMSqSkW9FCDLF45K8olyEtUpP7YIIXZFL75X3j3YW6LgyaKF_ycj8JgznYoRZ7NEfPztrdlXlDGGo2DsS3VBwyYG9yYI3e2o5HouizUIetKIBVMZPSPQWT2EFIdsI_oLFHOc2D8_317Dn/s1600/images.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
2. Themed engagement photo sessions: Photo sessions with your photographer give you chance to get to know each other and work out any kinks before the big day. Your pictures can show off your fun side, tell a story about how you met, or display something of deep sentiment that both you may share. You can take it even further and create wedding announcement cards with your images as well.<br />
<br />
3. Unique Venues: Instead of holding your ceremony at a church. Try bringing your officiant a location that defines a part of who you are. Do you and your fiancé enjoy fine art? Try holding your wedding at an Art Museum. The sky is the limit with this trend and many places are willing to rent out their facilities for a fee.<br />
<br />
4. Go Green: Be kind to the earth and reduce your carbon footprint by sending out invitations on recycled paper. If you don't like that idea, register for a charity of your choice. Instead of buying wedding favors and worrying about whether or not your guests will keep them; you can make a small donation in the names of your guests instead. It can also save you a couple of bucks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
5. Decadent Desserts: Let's face it cakes are costly so a lot of brides are beginning to use cupcakes instead and if your good at baking DIY. Sundae Bars, Chocolate Fountains, S'more Stations are also turning up and weddings are becoming big hits. They create fun memories that will have your guests talking. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjil7Mx2PlC7eublJAWq7lvW5LC9AN9pba6e6fUtvtZl70VnD6Ahyphenhyphenw3J13z1lkozwS9MuePXSPNhf672C4I7CpgRF8IVtDwtD-WzeVaBitbc_Seo9w9oaZ0uOWoe_3aD5sV69wXjCtCPLHv/s1600/chocOlate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjil7Mx2PlC7eublJAWq7lvW5LC9AN9pba6e6fUtvtZl70VnD6Ahyphenhyphenw3J13z1lkozwS9MuePXSPNhf672C4I7CpgRF8IVtDwtD-WzeVaBitbc_Seo9w9oaZ0uOWoe_3aD5sV69wXjCtCPLHv/s200/chocOlate.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrfzPd_coGVF2OizzXZfB1umCv_X24WGNDRkmfdupuecu_kgxX5pyJ-kAfeYLxsSoNn6cAdRlHHZaF836JBZ_KITOkk2SWkjTX1pxlCp66X9pVDag8pJU2dEXJQPc-av-AE1mMl765EIFV/s1600/cupcake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrfzPd_coGVF2OizzXZfB1umCv_X24WGNDRkmfdupuecu_kgxX5pyJ-kAfeYLxsSoNn6cAdRlHHZaF836JBZ_KITOkk2SWkjTX1pxlCp66X9pVDag8pJU2dEXJQPc-av-AE1mMl765EIFV/s200/cupcake.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
6. Non traditional Guestbooks: I've seen photo frames with diamond tipped pens so that people can write their well wishes on the glass. But you can try these alternatives too.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaCWDSDqMYL31lPkaVO3FJPsBo-opma8rNfZJi0Y-NveKkZNiJ6dW8MfFczevhJ0D6jlIqPi_8RUw6WGff8YelG8RdW9gRSmznI-373uFP77febpgfrWuYWTrwYV82eTzCiz6q1Hv28IY4/s1600/record.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaCWDSDqMYL31lPkaVO3FJPsBo-opma8rNfZJi0Y-NveKkZNiJ6dW8MfFczevhJ0D6jlIqPi_8RUw6WGff8YelG8RdW9gRSmznI-373uFP77febpgfrWuYWTrwYV82eTzCiz6q1Hv28IY4/s200/record.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3rukKRIuOyZBRgBBRQU-UVpokASdWibMcPAolN1__BjfQ56Znyz0DOqb2IBOOduu1t8cQmuhoAGLgUEYz_nPwJc7ZqyDFVZsvTjLC9WXNq_adHdVDuaw3m_ssDHGZRlavni391y1flySG/s1600/wine.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3rukKRIuOyZBRgBBRQU-UVpokASdWibMcPAolN1__BjfQ56Znyz0DOqb2IBOOduu1t8cQmuhoAGLgUEYz_nPwJc7ZqyDFVZsvTjLC9WXNq_adHdVDuaw3m_ssDHGZRlavni391y1flySG/s200/wine.jpg" width="146" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have your guests sign off on your favorite song or your favorite bottle of wine. It's the little personalizations in your wedding that truly make it special.</div>

The reason for this is because I'm about to discuss a wedding that I was invited to but I wasn't able to attend. The reason for this is? She had a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic and for monetary reasons I wasn't able to make it. Urgh, I was devastated.<br />
<br />
No, seriously I was. <br />
<br />
About a year or so ago, I got an envelope in the mail in the shade of a beautiful sparkly turquoise color. Honestly, the color was so spot on and gorgeous that it instantly reminded me of ocean waves shining in the sun. When I opened it out slipped a wedding invitation in the form of a boarding pass. My mouth fell to the floor and I thought to myself "OMG, how cute is this?!" I jumped up and down in excitement and exclaimed to my husband over and over "we HAVE to go..we HAVE GOT to go because after all, she came to OUR wedding!" And while I am doing all of this jumping deep down, I knew that going to the Dominican Republic would be downright impossible because of other financial obligations that I had to stick to. Adulthood sucks. Anyway, the boarding pass kind of looked like this: <br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">cute right?!</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm waiting on the bride to send me her pics but until then this will have to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Her bridal shower invitations were exciting as well; donned with summer pigmentations and hibiscus flowers of bright orange and hot pinks, inviting us to board flight 8611 (her wedding date August 6, 2011) .</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Here are images from her special day, the day when her last name changed from Love-- to Ryans. Now how appropriate is it that I "Love the Ryans"? Well, I never met her husband but I know that he has chosen a wonderful wife...and friend. She has always been a friend of mine and I <i>LOVE</i> her dearly. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I know this is a little late but congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Ryans, this one is for you.</div>

Her bouquet was custom made with brooch pins. This is a creative alternative to live flowers which can be extremely costly when doing destination ceremonies. She told the designer that she wanted peacock colors and above was her final result. Unique at it's best and a beautiful family heirloom.</div>

I wanted to quickly share the history of the wedding band with you and the reason why people wear it on the left hand. In the 17th Century, wedding rings were frequently worn on the thumb. During the marriage ceremony however, the fourth finger was commonly used. There are various origins for the tradition of placing the ring on the fourth finger. According to some, the custom stems from the Christian wedding service in which the priest arrives at the fourth finger after touching three fingers of the left hand: "In the Name of the Father...Son...Holy Ghost." A more romantic legend that dates back to Egyptian times holds that the third finger of the left hand follows the vena amoris (vein of love), a vein that was believed to run from that finger directly to the heart. <br />
<br />
Food for thought: Rings symbolize love and romance. The <a href="http://www.etsy.com"></a>diamond is indestructible and the band is an unending circle which represents eternity.<br />
<br />
There is your history lesson on love for the day. Class dismissed. ;-)<br />

Here is another another ring that I thought was beyond tradition, budget friendly, and unique. Not to mention it's really cute. You can find it here on www.etsy.com<br />

<br />
It's been a while since I last created a post for you to read, and for that I apologize. However, I must say that I've truly missed writing to you. Blogging (especially about an industry that I adore) gives me an outlet on even my most stressful days. I had to take a hiatus because I was losing myself and I couldn't figure out how to manage my time. I had to learn how to refocus my goals and not let certain life occurances get in the way. Meaning, I had to decipher how to get up at 5:15am, get my "Happily Ever After" ready for school, put in a 9hr work day, attend classes (that my job made mandatory), come home and cook...and THEN blog. Quite honestly, my 9hr work day had a lot to do with it. I became resentful of my job and mad that I didn't have the ability to stay at home and focus on my company and blog about the empire that I am trying to establish. Thats a work day all of it's own and I found I didn't have it in me to do both. It was a tug of war that I didn't want to fight because I knew that something was going to eventually come up short. Either my productivity and ethic at work was going to suffer the time I spend with my family. I have no room to tarnish either one, and with that being said I took a break from blogging. Even still after all of these months that have passed I thought about it every single day. <br />
<br />
There are 4 reasons why I came back sooner rather than later:<br />
1. I had no business leaving to begin with! It's just not easy abandoning something that you love.<br />
2. I learned how to manage my time between family, work, and business. Now I need my business license to come through so that I can have my 9hrs!<br />
3. There is a beautiful destination wedding that took place this summer that I have been DYING to share with you.<br />
4. **Drum Roll Please** I will be attending the world renowned Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management to further hone my skills and I simply couldn't wait to tell people about it! (Insert Cymbal Crash Here) :-)<br />
<br />
So, in addition to using my blog as a way to document trends about the wedding industry, I can also use it to let others (such as yourself) experience the continuation of my journey. The paths to becoming the professional that I truly wish to become. Now, I'm not saying that I'm not a professional but there is always room to grow and improve right?....I thought so!Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6309903028022499405.post-84873737075845684892011-07-23T22:40:00.000-04:002011-07-23T22:40:25.092-04:00Wedding Images<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><div style="height: 500px; position: relative; width: 500px;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/wedding_images/set?.embedder=2642852&.mid=embed&id=34165173"><img alt="Wedding Images" border="0" force="1" height="500" src="http://embed.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/cid/34165173/id/HFpE8rqw4BGOY17zineYhQ/size/x.jpg" title="Wedding Images" width="500" /></a></div><br />

I have been doing a lot of things that have been keeping me away, but it's not because I wanted to be. I have been really focusing on achieving my professional designation of Wedding Consultant through the Association of Bridal Consultants, my current job has been keeping me busy, and so has my little "Happily Ever After" (read previous blog below to find out about her). Anyway, the point of this entry is because one of my final assignments has required me to find pictures of what I would portray as my image and colors and pictures that I would use on my brochures. My question to you is simply..."What do you think?"</div></small></div>Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6309903028022499405.post-75479568812010600422011-05-02T15:20:00.000-04:002011-05-02T15:20:35.952-04:00"But this is my DREAM gown!" vs. "This is my body type?!?!"<div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">You've always known what type of gown you want and that it's going to look just perfect on you right? You say to yourself "It's going to be BIG and POOFY!" or "It absolutely HAS to have a sweetheart neckline with a cathedral train!" You go the bridal salon to try on your dream dress and you are astonished...it looks horrendous on you. Well, there is a reason for that. Sorry to say it but, just because the dress looks FAB on a model or a mannequin doesn't mean it will on you and it all has to do with your body type. </span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">Below are examples of different body types. Now, go look in the mirror and seriously analyze your body (don't worry, ill be here when you get back) Did you notice something? You're beautiful! I said analyze, not scrutinize okay? You're perfect just the way you are, and now is not the time to become self conscious..he did propose to you didn't he?</span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 12.0px Helvetica; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-align: center;"></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; text-align: right;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn_U-uNAUAFOxNib5aL-xnykkz87bF0tZAVcfBvldCgAJz529uzvZY-qjWzJeAqfqRVbkpkX5-bG-IedwKYnUiIDLMMLSqnsGZpucK0zW2KQrATBpOLXbxLbnTrhkyiaEyHNcY0hbYG_yp/s1600/body.shape_.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn_U-uNAUAFOxNib5aL-xnykkz87bF0tZAVcfBvldCgAJz529uzvZY-qjWzJeAqfqRVbkpkX5-bG-IedwKYnUiIDLMMLSqnsGZpucK0zW2KQrATBpOLXbxLbnTrhkyiaEyHNcY0hbYG_yp/s320/body.shape_.png" width="320" /></a></div><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">(Image courtesy of fashionfairpdx.com)</span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;">The models and mannequins that we see wearing those dresses that we love mostly have the body type of the inverted triangle image. However, the average woman has the <i>Triangle Shape</i>: also known as the <b><i>Pear Shaped Body</i></b>. If the images aren't working well with you, basically this means that the <i>Triangle Shape </i>is a woman with curvy hips and a round derrière! Women with this body type should be looking to try on a dress with these features: strapless, v-neck, embroidered bodice, gathered waist, and an empress or an A line skirt.<b> </b> All of theses don't have to be bundled up in one gown but it helps to have at least one. Simply because it tends to draw attention away from the hips and makes you appear slimmer.</span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; line-height: 16.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; line-height: 16.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><b>Inverted Triangle (</b>most runway models have a shape like this): You are described as having wide or broad shoulders. Short tea party gowns, A line, and ball gowns look best on you. </span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; line-height: 16.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; min-height: 19.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"></span></div><div style="font: 16.0px Times; line-height: 16.0px; margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0px;"><b>Rectangle Shape</b>: Your shoulders and waist have pretty </span>much have the same width and there isn't much definition between the two. Ball gown dresses with detailed skirts and accents at the waist will give you definition and shape . A-line gowns with a corseted bodice and asymmetrical ruching will give you a waist, in addition to empire line dresses.<br />
<br />
<b>Hourglass Shape</b>: This one is pretty self explanatory. You were blessed with boobs, butt and a small waist. Basically, you have a pretty curvy figure. An A-line gown will show off your figure well. However, if you REALLY want to show off your girlish figure go for a mermaid gown and if your daring...get a sweetheart neckline!<br />
<br />
<b>Diamond Shape</b>: This one is opposite of the hourglass shape and your waist is wider that your shoulders and hips. Empire gowns, A-line dresses with a sash around the waist, and accents like ruching, or perhaps a jeweled bodice will flatter you best.<br />
<br />
<b>Rounded Shape</b>: You have a beautiful full figure and v-necklines will make your curves like pretty. A-line gowns or empire waist gowns, with an embroidered bust line will look best for your shape.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I hope this was helpful and saves you some grief and aggravation...Happy shopping!</div></div>Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6309903028022499405.post-31989214567428765482011-04-14T22:13:00.000-04:002011-04-14T22:13:08.465-04:00Color InspirationsWhen a girl gets engaged one of the first questions that she is asked is, "What colors are you going to use?" While some girls have known what their colors were going to be ever since they were playing with Barbie and Ken, other girls are completely clueless about what they want to do, and thats okay. <br />
<br />
The first place to start when thinking about wedding colors is the season. It wouldn't make sense to have a summer wedding with dark colors or a winter wedding blooming with pastels. April is the height of spring, and all you have to do is look out of the window to get some fresh ideas. Pinks and lavenders, pale yellow, light blues and greens; the world is a big water color palette just for your pretty fingers to play with. Begin to think of your favorite hues and work from there.<br />
<div style="text-align: right;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Here are some boards that I created based off of some spring time time colors. I tried my hardest to actually get the images up but I just couldn't figure it out. Click the links below to see them. You wont be disappointed I promise! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I figure that if I want to do this blog and do it right, I might as well tell you more about myself. One thing that is probably quite obvious by now is the fact that I grew up watching Disney movies. What little girl didn't? I mean we all wanted our Prince Charming and dreamed of the Happily Ever After's right? Well, it's a good thing that I believe in fairytales because, I met my husband Creg seven years ago and we have been married for two. It was our wedding that started me off on my journey of wanting to become a wedding planner. <br />
<br />
The whole process from beginning to end was so much fun; from finding the venue, to dancing the first dance. I enjoyed every bit of it, especially the romance of it all. I knew that I always wanted to have my own business and be my own boss but I never knew EXACTLY what it was that I wanted to do. It wasn't until I got to experience the skill that it takes to actually plan a wedding that I said to myself "Oh My Gosh this is what I want to do! This is right up my alley!" Hey, sometimes it just takes people a little while to figure out what their niche in life is. So, I invested in myself and spent the time and the money to really study this industry. This led me to become a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants and gain the credentials and the skills that I needed. <br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I passed the classes and now I am a Wedding Planner and I love it! The rest is history! </div><br />
Take a look at our day and the very first wedding that I planned (the first of many might I add): <br />

I began this blog because of the true love that I have for the wedding industry. This industry is so unique and ever changing; trendy and chic; romantic and beautiful all at the same time. I get excited knowing that I can plan a wedding and make a bride's dream come true. Every wedding that is planned is never quite like the last one and that is what makes it so special.<br />
<br />
A Wee Bit Of History:<br />
<br />
The title of this site is derived from the classic Disney movie "Snow White". You know the tale- the princess takes a bite out of the juicy red apple, collapses into a deep death like sleep only to be awakened by a kiss from her prince charming, GETS MARRIED ;-) and lives happily every after. Regardless of how many bad apples that you may have had, they all become irrelevant once you get a kiss from your groom (uh, I mean prince charming). Once that happens, you should be ready to have your happily ever after as well!<br />
<br />
Oh and one more thing (for now anyway...) have fun at The Enchanted Apple. It's here for you to look around, get ideas, and learn trends. But most of all it's here for you to have fun planning your wedding with as little stress as humanly possible! So by all means princess; grab a cup of chamomile tea, raise your pinky in the air, put your feet up and....ENJOY.Laurenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03709665144680279484noreply@blogger.com0
